Oxpeckers are birds that ride on animals' backs to peck and eat insects and parasites. The animal is cleaned and the oxpeckers are getting food. This only occurs with herbivores, such as zebras and gazelles, as to avoid being eaten by carnivorous animals such as lions and cheetahs.

Babble, an oxpecker, is eating insects from a rhino and talks to his friend, Chatter, about searching for food. Babble then quotes "Don't worry about today, because tomorrow there'll still be insects." from another oxpecker named Prattle. He and Chatter are signalled by a crane to attend a Great Flock. They fly to the Great Flock only to discover that Great Mother is dead. As it started to rain, Chatter said that the Great Spirit is angered by Great Mother's death. Babble then questions Prattle's quote, as he is in despair.
