Highcrest is a female eagle. She is the mother of several unnamed chicks.
Biography[]
Pre-series[]
Highcrest is flying above the savanna when she stumbles upon a lion cub. She catches the cub to feed it to her chicks. She attempts to alert her mate of her catch but is interrupted by a baboon who steals Highcrest's prey from her.
The lion cub is actually Fearless, when he escapes after Titan kills Gallant. The baboon that rescues him is Stinger, who brings him to Brightforest Troop.
Broken Pride[]
After Fearless flees from Titan, he was carried away by Highcrest, who brought him to her nest believing him to be dead. This scene plays out very differently from the prologue in Oathkeeper. In Broken Pride, Highcrest has no chicks in her nest no does she intend to eat Fearless right away. Instead, Highcrest decides to save Fearless for a later meal before flying off. Sometime after Highcrest's departure, Fearless regains conscious and find himself in Highcrest's nest. Before Highcrest returns from her flight, Fearless attempts to escape by climbing out of the tree the nest is stationed in. While climbing down, the lion cub loses his grip and fall. However, he is caught by Stinger. After introducing themselves, Stinger explains that he saw Highcrest carrying the latter back to her nest and left Tall Trees to investigate. Fearless is forever grateful of being rescued.
When Thorn confronts Stinger for his treachery, the latter reminds him that he rescued Fearless from Highcrest.
Blood and Bone[]
Hightcrest doesn't appear but she is indirectly mentioned by a skeptical Fearless when he argues how Stinger could've left him for dead in Highcrest's nest in response to Sky and Loyal's warnings about Stinger. Stinger's heroic acts are a major factor in Fearless's refusal to listen to Sky and Loyal's warning about the former as Fearless doesn't see any reason why Stinger would save him if Loyal and Sky's claims regarding the former were true. Loyal explains that Stinger had ulterior motives for rescuing him. Fearless stubbornly refuses to believe Sky and Loyal and assumes that the pair are playing some kind of trick on him. However Fearless realizes his mistake the hard way during his next meeting with Stinger at Baboon Island. There, Stinger deems Fearless expendable and reveals his true colors and confirms that the only reason why he didn't let Highcrest eat him was so that he [Stinger] could exploit Fearless.
